You're All I Need- Making sense of the price we pay for civilization.

I am aware that not many of you might be Radiohead fans. But as a fan myself I've always been drawn to Radiohead's firm commitment to make their music not just for people to enjoy but to use it to send a message to inform and alert people about the issues in our world. This music video certainly made me think about what goes on in other countries where kids are not as well off as us here. We can brush off things like this and say that it's just things that happen all the time and that we can't really do anything, but I think that we can. Even if we can't really help people so far away from us, it's good to know that these things happen and that we should not be afraid to tell people some of the ugly truths about the things that happen in this world. I'd really like to hear your opinions on this video. I'm not talking about the music but I'm talking about its very clear message. How do you think this video is speaking to you?

  2. I am not a fan and not know much about Radiohead and never heard about it, however, this video has sending a message to me.In my opinion, the video show that two different lives and background of children in the world and it has sending two different message from this video.

From the video,it shows an example of how the images of a youngster in the Western world getting up for school and another in a country that uses kids to work in sweatshops. The song and video were made together. On the left hand side, the children are living in a comfortable lives such as has his own bed room, food, new clothes, watching cartoon movie and school whereas on the right hand side,it shows that the children need to work and unable to study, this lead the children have an unhappiness childhood and without any education and entertainment since young. This shows that not all the children from all over the world have a good environment, comfortable lives and have an good education. We should appreciate, happy and lucky that we have such plenty of resouces compare to the children from others countries which do not have such resouces and some more they need to work for consumers.

I think the video is about realizing that the things we have in our life, as common as shoes, come from somewhere, are produced by someone, are fabricated by human hands and sometimes the way things are done should care to us all; in my opinion, it is a matter of humanity.Anyone who has ever complained about school, what kind of house they have or what they lack needs to see this. As we are watching this video, the children which same age with us or even younger than us are making the products we use. What we are is what we are perceived as by others, and these children are constructing the things that define us. They are constructing us, they are us, we are them.

Children, the gifts of Gods and future's leader so we have the responsiblity to protect them and give them a comfortable lives. Therefore, the government and people should not allow and end child labor happen in all over the world.

  3. This video really conveys a solid message that we need to appreciate what we have now but not always complain about things around us. We all have underwent childhood and the memories are always sweet and happy. However, there are kids who don’t have happy childhood like us in the other parts of the world.

The comparison between these two different environments in the video clearly depicts how fortunate we are than other kids in the world. We are same with the kids on the left side. The environment in which we grow is totally different from the kids on the right side. We live in a comfortable place while they live in places that might be worse than what was shown in the video. Besides, we are free, having education and entertainment while they have to work and don’t have entertainment at all. Moreover, we can stay together with our family while they might visit their family once a year.

From this video, we also can see how lives of the kids who work are going on. Are they happy? Are their lives colourful? We can find out the answers along the video. When we are studying, the pat given by teacher shows compliment to us whereas the kids on the other side are given hits that cause pain on heads when they don’t work well. They are not happy at all. Furthermore, we use different colours to draw and we enjoy it. However, they use only black colour to paint the sole of shoes unwillingly. This illustrates their lives are dull.

The kids lost their freedom, education and happy childhood to work in the sweatshops that produce things we need in daily life. Therefore, besides shoes, other things we use and wear actually cost more than what we pay. This video really speaks to me that we must be satisfied with what we have. We need to tell others about this ugly truth to let them know how other kids live in this real world and I think this is also the purpose why this video was shown.

  4. Watching this video is really an eye-opener to me. It made me realized the "REAL" and "ACTUAL" world out there. Our assumption is always that the world is always a fair and just place to live in and that each and everyone in the world is being treated with equality.

It's a shame to say that there are many 'hanky panky' in the world. Prior to the video, there is a clear indifference between the two different scenes. The right one shows us the lifetstyle we are living in now.The left one shows us the lifestyle we hardly acknowledge or notice at all.In fact, I doubt anyone of us are going through the lifestyle as the right scene is going through.

We are like the Western boy, living in luxury, getting served by meals, being treated like a VIP, and also getting the proper education. The scene on the right might be in China. At this very moment, many children are suffering in China. As I typed this out, the plight of the children suffering in China is increasing rapidly. YET,no proper actions are taken.

Children are being put to slavery and hard labor. Working day and night without any proper healthcare, proper bed to sleep in, proper food, and not even any proper clothes. They worked till they did not take notice the passing of the time. Being locked in the factory the whole day working just to earn a living. Unfortunately, what they earned are just enough to compensate for their cheap food and also a floor to sleep on. We should all be thankful that we are living in such a lavish lifestyle now.

We might be wondering at times, how come almost everything we own are made in China? Of all places, CHINA?? The answer is right infront of our very own eyes. What we do not know after we buy all the China Made products are the sufferings of the ones whom made them. The ONES refers to the children. Children as young as 5 years old are being put to hardcore work. Going through slavery and hard labor, isn't it against the rights of the children? Children deserves proper education like the one shown in the scenes on the left of the video. China-made products are cheap as China has the cheapest labor in the entire world. Therefore nowadays, all the things we see are made in CHINA.

This video gave me awareness about the real happenings of the world. I will always doubt and think twice if I ever come across any China-made products as we do not know how was the product made and the story behind the product. Though China-Made products are cheap, children labor and sufferings should be prohibited. Living in poverty is one thing, but living as a slave and being pushed to work is another issue altogether.

  5. After watching this video, I have realized that a person who most all of time remains silent is always the poor. Only the person who has wealth is able to complain or not satisfies on their life. This is because the poor has no time to complain, all their time has been used up to work for people who able to spend their money on those physical stuff. A person won’t complain when he or she not even has the opportunity to choose the life they want.

Moreover, this video has convey a message to me that discrimination has happen every single second in somewhere around this world which we do not know. All the stuffs that we have are actually made by the victim of discrimination. Those people who use these poor children as a labor know the law well but they do not follow it. Because they always think that only a person who can makes a lot of profit is consider a successful businessman. So to achieve those stupid thoughts, they can disobey the law and discriminate on the poor, make them work for them in a low pay, poor work condition and long work time. All they have done is just to minimize their cost and maximize their profit without bothering other people’s right.

Actually, I also have figured out that we have been thought by our society that the poor always is the person who is lazy and I was sad that we actually have been brainwashed. Because we are the one who makes the poor person keeps poor and not only on them but also their next generation. The poor will not break their poverty if discrimination still happens in this world. I think that as a member of this society, we should not let all these discrimination happen because everyone should have their right to choose what they want and the poor is not lazy but has work hard to break their poverty, so a chance also must be given to them.

  6. This video has reminded me of my trip to Sri Lanka when I was 14. Seeing street kids walking around shirtless, kids working to support their family of 14? These children already had responsibilities that were not meant to be theirs to carry.

I remember that I was complaining to my brother about how immature and childish some teenagers and youths are nowadays. And my brother gave me a really good reason. He said that it was not a choice for those children as people out there hold guns and knifes and are ready to murder you anytime of the day. Most of the children have most possibly witness murders with their own eyes. How are they not to think twice with what they say and do now?

But what have we been doing even after knowing these facts of children labor and slavery? We still do buy cheap daily products for our own sake but don't realize where it all come from. We still buy these stuff with no guilt in our hearts and throw them away after a good use of it.

It shows how pampered and protected we are. How lucky to be born in safer places like Malaysia, Australia and etc.

But even if we can't do BIG things to change these things from happening, we should at least stop ourselves and discourage others as well to not support products like these and put awareness in the eyes of others. They may not know it, but now that we do. Let's make a difference about it.

  7. In my opinion, the video show us that not all kids in the world are living in the environment we are now. It is sad for me to see that the unfortunate kids at the right in the video does not have the childhood that we already have. Some people may think that it is not their business to care about other people. From what I can see, we should act now and help the kids that are less fortunate.

It is heart breaking for me to see that the kids have to work under duress. Have they ever thought about the kids childhood? Have they ever thought about the happiness of the kids? I think that kids that have childhood and friends are joyful kids. Kids that does not have childhood and have to work at a young age are called unhappy kids. I think we should appreciate what we have now and try help the kids by starting from little then to big.

We as a fortunate kid wake up in the morning dressed up and get ready for school have an education, while the unfortunate kids have to wake up in the morning get dressed and get ready for work on making shoes. Is that a kid should have during their childhood age? I don’t think it is a good thing for a kid to work at a young age. Kids should have a future on them, if they don’t learn anything at their young age, they won’t be learning anything when they grow up.

Moreover, the health of the kids is also important. The fortunate kids has three meals a day prepared by their parents, and sharing lunches with their friends at school. As for the unfortunate kids only have one meal, and only one bowl of food a day. That is unhealthy for a kid to grow up in only one bowl of food a day.

The video has shown me the truth that people may never know. Kids has lost everything they were suppose to have. I hope that people will see what they don’t have, and try to help those kids by acting now.

  9. The video surely raised awareness to all it’s viewers on the labour exploitation, human trafficking and how it is affecting children in developing countries. Throughout the video, as we can see the screen is divided into two to show the vast contrasting difference.

On the left we follow the day of an average school boy who enjoys the luxuries of eating breakfast, going to school, the privilege of reading and learning art. It somewhat is a reflection of our daily routine which we all consider normal and dull.

On the right we see young children working for very long hours in a shoe factory with insufficient meals, not to mention the small portion and probably imbalance diet . They work hard without wage in exchange for shelter and meals.

It is an ugly truth that there is a strong demand for cheap or easily exploited labour in many sectors, as a vast supply of people just wanting to make an income to meet their most basic needs, and others people seeking opportunities to improve their lives or living standards. These conditions sadly creates a great potential for trafficking and other horrible forms of exploitation. With the previous global financial downturns and economic recessions those people are even more vulnerability to exploitation.

The tragedy unfolds when some of the victims will be “recruited” by a family member or supposed some “friends” from their school. Because of their trust towards these people, they are often willing and often trick to blindly accept the offers that are made. But we can’t blame the family members as some of the family are hardcore poor with no enough income for the family.

Thus, an effective response to human trafficking and labour exploitation would require the changing of the conditions that allow these practices to grow, including the creation of non-exploitative livelihood options. But unfortunately none of the above is within our jurisdiction, neither can we set laws or conduct investigation.

So what can be done? We could probably, educate our younger cousin, siblings or friends on the dangers of falling victim to human traffickers or any get rich scams. Being that these traffickers do pose as friends and promises so many great benefits. Education and creation of awareness on our rights is a must to all vulnerable parties so that they are equipped and informed.

On the other hand, we could also learn to be contented with what we have and not be wasteful. I do not feel the need to talk more on being happy with our ordinary life as all of us are already aware that our living condition is a blessing. Neither am I to talk on being wasteful as there is a whole article on that topic in the star newspaper. But let us reminds ourselves that some things cost more than you realize.

  10. The video show us a completely different lifestyle of people which is the fortunate ones and the unfortunate ones, the rich ones and the poor ones, the happy ones and the unhappy ones. Life had been very simple for the boy in the left hand side; he has no worries at all, neither in the morning nor night. On the other hand, the boy in the right hand side, his life had been dull all the time, sleeping uncomfortably in a pack environment, no electricity, no bed, no warmness, nothing at all! I wonder why some people can enjoy facilities such as television and others or even well cooked and delicious food but some people can never have enjoy the same life as them.

The world is always so materialistic that rich people can always enjoy whatever they like while the poor ones have to work so hard but ending up getting a low paid salary. The boy in the left hand side can always care for his own hygiene for example brushing his teeth and changing into a cleaner shirt may be twice a day, however, the boy in the right hand side can only wash his face every morning and wear the same clothes everyday. Hygiene problem can be very serious because it might lead to some sickness, people in the right hand side won’t even have the amount of money to pay for any medical charges. This is the life they have to suffer may be for the rest of their life.

In this imperfect world, nothing can be as perfect and wonderful as we wish to be. The boy in the left hand side has the opportunity to study and make friends at school while the boy in the right hand side might not have the chance at all. He had to wake up early in the morning to work before the sun shines. Children actually do not deserve to have this kind of lifestyle but he doesn’t even have a choice. They are the one that can contribute to our country in the future so I strongly think that they should be given the same life and education as the others.

After watching this video, I realize that I should always appreciate things that I’m having now. I feel quite bad when the boy doesn’t appreciate the shoes that the others had made it day and night for the comfort of other people. I also realize I should always appreciate other people’s effort of providing us the best no matter in the term of things of services. I’m really satisfied with my life now!

  11. The video showed 2 children’s childhood. There are two children with different lifestyles because they are from different countries, societies and backgrounds. A western child has a better life compared to another Chinese boy (right side in the video). The boy who stays at Western country has a good, comfortable and warm house with full of family love, and has a happiness school life. He can go to school after taking a healthy breakfast whereas the Chinese boy need to sleep in the corridor, wake up early for work without taking any breakfast even he is only a child. In fact, children should have their rights to go to school for education, enjoy their school life and not work hard in the messy place like shoes factory showed in the video.

This is a very sad phenomenon because I feel this world is very unfair. Some people can get “EVERYTHINGS” easily as long as they want but some people have to work very hard just to prevent from hunger and continue their life. Under the same sky, some of the children in other country are still suffering in the war and most of them have been sacrificed in the war such as in Somalia, Afghanistan, and Haiti etc... WHAT WORLD IS THAT?!!! It’s really NOT FAIR!!!

We should appreciate our life and satisfy with what we have right now. This is because we stay in a safe country without war and natural disasters compared to other people who live in the countries with war and natural disasters. We are lucky 100 times than them but their lives are difficult 100 times than us. For children, they can’t enjoy their childhood, do not get education, and need to work to feed themselves and also their other family members. So, is it fair for them?

Therefore, we should try our best to save them from the bad environment so that they can have a life like us. Actually, we can help the children to fight for their rights so that all the children can be paid attention and treated fairly, for instance in some other country where they are ignore the children’s right. For those who are rich in our country also can do some donations to build more schools in some poor country. This can increase the chances of the children to change their poverty life into better life after getting education.

So, let fight for the children’s rights and save them from their difficult life from today!!!

  12. I admit that I am not a fan Radiohead and never heard about it in my life. According to me, the video shows two different kids’ life style in a very different surrounding. The video consist of two secret messages which can help people to change their view of their life.
In my point of view, I feel that I’m just like the kid on the left video. Living in comfort, get the love from people around, clean surroundings, good food and education with the parents support. On the other hand, the kid on the right video doesn’t have a proper place to stay, not treated like a normal kid and working for a living. By comparing, the video on the left is obviously better than the one on the right one. No one will want to be in the situation like the one in the right video. Why do you think that kid have to be there when he is not suppose to be there.
Is simple, just think where are the rights of the kids? The kid on the right video, have the rights to not do whatever he is doing but why do you think he didn’t stop. He is forced to do so in his society because of poverty. He needs to work for a living if not he will not be alive till now. No one stands and fight and care for the kids. The kid makes shoes every day and he gets pay yet he still stay in that horrible place. His effort in doing the shoes was not paid well and people can just buy those shoes with just a very low price. Now we should realize that we are very lucky to not to be like the kid. So we should be thankful for what we have.
Kids are the future for a society, they are the backbone for the nation. Without them, there will not be a future. So, we should fight for the rights of the kids and support them in every way. We should also fight pay for the real price of anything.

  13. This video show that not everyone stay in good life or environment. In this video there are both children stay in two different environment. One of them is being provided a home, food and especially education, while the other boy is barely getting anything. He had to suffered and forced to work in a shop to survive his life. During the child’s break time he also has little food and he appreciate every single bit of it and he also has no television to watch. This shows two totally different sides of society and it shows that not everyone in the world is living in a comfortable life. We are considered very well fortunate people as we have full resources, some countries do not even have electricity and have to live in darkness.
Another thing that captured my eyes is the video’s catchy and interesting quotes. The quotes, “Some things cost more than you realized and definitely changed my perception on stuff we buy. It made me realized that the stuff we bought might be someone else’s suffering. I cannot imagine if I were to put into that child’s position, have no education like every other children and have no entertainment and fun activities but to work at a young age for survival. So therefore we should appreciate and satisfy on what we have right now. This is because we stay in a peace country without war and natural disasters compared to other people who live in the countries with war and natural disasters. We are considered as the luckiest one compared the one in the video.
In conclusion, there nothing wrong to born poor or being poor. Everyone still have the same human rights they have. No one is different. We don’t need to compare with those who live in better life than us. We should really appreciate on what we have now. So therefore I will appreciate on what I have starting from now after knowing there a lot people who are suffering in those condition are worse than the video that we couldn’t imagine on it.

  14. Alright, first of all I would like to admit that I have no idea what is “Radiohead”. Is it a music band or anything? Do the music relate to the video? I don’t know, only the fan will understand the meaning of the song. Anyway, what I concern in the movie is the lifestyle that the two different children live in. As we can see from the video, it is separate into two part which is left and right. In the left side, we can see that there is a happy child who live in a better lifestyle and having everything which is education, entertainment, and love from people. While in the right side, the child that show in the video is live in a poor lifestyle. He has to work to help for family although the he just a kid. A kid should live in a happy life which does not need to worry about so many things. But because of the child live in poor, he has to find the money himself to maintain his life.
We can learn a lot of moral in the moral studies that we could use in real life. One of the moral values is protect children right. Protect children is now a rule that recognize from the world, but there is still many cases of children abuse happening in the corner of the world, especially the poor country like Bangladesh, Indonesia, Vietnam and so on. People in these countries live in suffer because they cannot get the rights which is belong to them and they had to work hard for life. Because they are poor, they are willing to accept the hard work even just little pay. They also not dare to speak up and fight for their rights. We also can see this incident happening in Malaysia which the foreign workers are hired with a low pay and they are given a hard work just like work as worker in the developing or a coolie.
As we can see from the incident whenever from the poor country or Malaysia, the poor people are treat unfairly which they have to scarify their rights, their health and their time to satisfy our needs and wants. But even though they still not get pay enough and they rights is still abused by the people in today. This give me an inspiration which they are still human same like us, they should get their rights and we should respect them.

  15. The video highlights child labour and strives to throw some light on this issue. The video somewhat achieves this: the heavy use of ’juxtaposition’ is an effective tool that attains the type of emotion it intends to invoke-sympathy. This is especially true in the cruel wrench in the gut it creates when showing how one child gets breakfast while the other don’t.it is an effective symbolism of the fact that some children have it worse in the world.

There is a distinct lack of emotion in both children. Perhaps this intends to strip away all aspect of the child’s feeling for us when we view it; it was probably intended to make us understand the nature of child labour and abuse without our judgments being clouded by identifying with the boy with the good life as it is the life most of us had. Thus it strives to help us understand the gravity of child labour as an observer, not as a participant. It does not want us to hedge ourselves and use our life as a barometer to understand the ramifications of forced labour.

On another level, the lack of emotion is also a way to signify the life of the child labour-a mundane, repetitive, life emotionless and as bland like the corridors of a hospital, stripped of any feeling whatsoever.it enables us to reach past the separation in between our lives and fully understand how their life feel like-like the never ending corridor of a hospital. Thus, it strives to evoke in us a visceral reaction that involves more logical rationale than usual.

A third interpretation is that the protected child is not altogether happy with his life. It is understandable if the child labour exhibits no emotion or excitement at life: there isn’t cause for any. However, the protected child had a good life, yet exhibits no excitement too. This too aims to evoke a visceral reaction that people normally do not understand that many are disadvantaged, which thus help us sympathize with the child labour.

This video portrays the harsh reality of life-red is be made from roses and blood. This is especially true when presented this way. The defenseless are always going to be brighter red than the matured. The differences in life of the two boys are striking. One has a future, the other don’t.

There is also the question of why violence and destitution and dilapidation were not shown. In such a condition, one would expect the boys to sleep in grimy shirts and be scolded all the time. One remembers the condition for young children in Britain during the industrial revolution. Perhaps this is a serious overlook; perhaps it is to symbolize the regimented way of life of the boys. One cannot help but compare them to the military. The lack of violence contributed to this line of thought, and also avoids the feeling that it is overdone, and also prevents the viewer from turning the video off because they cannot bear the violence.

This regimented life is obviously not the life of a child. It showcases once again the dire need to change this situation.

The final scene was epic. It portrays the hard choices in life, and how life is just the tip of the iceberg. What lies beneath, the hidden part of life, may be something sinister.it also draws a good end and evokes the right type of sympathy for the child labour; thus underscoring the message it delivers.

  16. The world is a beautiful place indeed,on the surface.Underneath that beautiful disguise, lies an ugly truth.A truth so ugly that not even the tall and majestic Mount Everest or the deepest ocean abyss can conceal----human trafficking,or worst, child trafficking. This video has shed a lime light on to the lives of children on the other side of the globe.A timeless video, the video was brilliant in conveying a simple message to every human.A clarion call,a wakeup call to the remaining humane individuals out there.I watched this repeatedly without getting bored, but getting increasingly sad, touched and shameful each time.

It made me question a lot of things. The journey of things is something we should be taught of in school.Text books should not just state the simplified procedure of how to make stuff; instead it should state the truth, the reality, the real complicated process and procedure of how it ends up in our hands. We should know where things begin it's journey and where it ends up,start appreciating things, stop taking things for granted and find ways to help the unlucky ones that paid a heavy price for us. Some things cost more than we realize.

In the beginning,I am grateful to say that I am lucky to be the one on the left.As the video continues to play,I am embarrassed to say that I am the one on the left. Not knowing the truth.

Both children share something similar and something different:

On the left,HE has a bed,a proper home & loving family beside him;does the ONES on the right?

On the left,HE wakes up early(his definition of early)to prepare to go to school;the ONES on the right wakes up very early(it’s still dark)to prepare for work.

On the left,HE has his own bathroom;the ONES on the right use and share their employer’s bathroom.

On the left,HE goes to school for an education, eats regular meals, has leisure time; the ONES on the right just work...work... and kept on working.

On the left,HE gets to go outside and see the beauty of the world, but he doesn’t see the ugly side of the world. On the right,THEY don’t get to see the beauty of the world, but they see the ugly side of it every day and night, probably forever.

On the left,HE has a memorable childhood stories to tell his children. On the right,THEY have stories of suffering to tell all of us.

The ONE on the left have many choices to make, but the ONES on the right don’t have a choice.

    Life is unfair.

  17. The most innocent phase in human life is the childhood. It is the phase when we are learning, playing… Go back into your childhood and for most of us, there are beautiful memories. But, life is unfair. This is the story of not too many children. Yes, there are far more children scarred and tormented. They hate they childhood. They would do anything to get out of the dungeons of being children and controlled and tortured by others. Some manage to get out and get a better life, but many continue to be where they are, not out of choice, but force. They cannot turn the world upside down or change the world around, because they are just mere children. They should have the right to enjoy their life, and live a life of freedom and opportunity!

An estimated 158 million children aged 5-14 are engaged in child labour, one in six children in the world. Millions of children are engaged in hazardous situations or conditions, such as working in mines, working with pesticides in agriculture or working with dangerous machinery. They are everywhere but invisible, labouring behind the walls of workshops, hidden from view in plantations.

In this video, the kid in left hand side, he is fortunate. He has a comfortable bed, able to dressed up a clean cloth, have time to watch television and enjoy breakfast which prepared by his beloved family whereas the kid in right hand side is unfortunate. He needs to sleep overnight at corridor. They straight away go for work after exchange a dirty cloth without any breakfast and time for entertainment. In such age, they supposed be in school but not in factory.

They are pity because they lost the right to gain education and make friends. Poor families need to keep as many family members working as possible to ensure income security and survival. This makes it very difficult for poor families to invest in their children's education. In fact, educating a child can be a significant financial burden. They are expected to purchase books, school supplies and uniforms, and sometimes even pay teachers' wages.

As industries grow, products became cheaper and the need for cheap labour increased. Children began putting in longer hours for cheaper wages. Immoral employers keep them imprisoned within the factory unit till the child cannot work due to deteriorating health as a result of harsh living and working conditions because children are less likely to complain. A hard and terrifying truth about child labour in India! According to Kumar, child labourer, he states that "It was like a prison, we were locked inside. We worked from 5 a.m. until midnight making carpets and we slept among the machines." Why should they receive such treatment?

After watching this video, I found that I’m very lucky because I’m being provided with all the basic living things by parents, no worries at all. We should learn to be contented with what we have and try to be thankful. We should not be wasteful. Do you know that a child or teenager is wearing clothes made by someone their same age? They sacrifice their childhood to fulfil our desires. But please ask ourselves, what have we done for them? NOTHING! End child labour!! So that we can bring smiles on many faces and make this world a beautiful place for a child to live in! Something is cost more than what we realize!

  18. I am not a big fan of Radiohead but I must agree their songs are full of meaning unlike the senseless pop songs of the 21st century.

This video clearly show how kids from our part of the world live their lives blissfully without even a single experience of labour. They get fed(excessively), they have clean clothes, they have a roof over their heads and their pockets are filled with cash. Typically, these things are always taken for granted. If it were to be the kids from the poorer countries, it will be heaven for them to have such luxuries. Yes, having pocket money to them is a luxury.

Obviously, this shows how kid rights are also violated together with the rise of the industry for cheap labour. It's atrocious to see mere 6 year olds covered in aluminum dust and industrial plastic leftovers, working their butts off, even worse, these kids are not even getting proper education. It may not be a life choice but it's cruel none the less for one to even let kids in such hazardous factories, where the word 'insurance' is to them an alien word.

It's really an eye opener, this video, it really gave me a sense of awareness towards these things and that I am blessed in every aspect to be living in a country where these situations are zero to none. Modern the world may be but greed and poverty will always have the last laugh in this case.

  19. The contrast of the 2 very different lifestyles hit me in the head in two different aspects. The front part of the story made me question myself, where do I stand? I consider myself a very lucky and fortunate girl as I am born into my family; I consider myself a very lucky and fortunate girl as I am protected and cared for with love from small; I consider myself a lucky and fortunate girl as my parents strived hard to keep me away from the life of poverty. Comparing the two different lifestyles made me realised how much I have now and that I should appreciate it. I am never more grateful and thankful to god now than before.

And then again, when the words of “it costs more than you know” appear, it kept me thinking again. All the cheap clothes and things I bought over the year, are paid off by others in other form of sacrifices. And then, it is only logic that people want to “obey the norm of getting more and giving less”. People want, people crave, people dream of buying nice cheap things. And of course, when succeeded, people are happy. But this happiness is indirectly built on others pain and suffering. The cheap things people grab, snatch or even fight for off the shelves are partly paid by others at higher costs or maybe even deadly costs.

From the previous video of the story of the stuff, we know that we should cut down on spending using things at such high rate. Then in this video, we should not buy cheap things anymore? But how can we make sure when we buy expensive things, the profits won’t be all taken by the company, and those people who are paying for the stuff we buy are still left to rot? How can we make sure that those people are compensated properly? We as individuals cannot do much. Only by joining forces can we solve this problem. It always goes back to the moral values. I mean, the world is now full of problems, but who are the ones aware of it? Or who are the ones willing to take the first step to solve this problem? It may start small, but it might make a big difference in the future. After all, all changes have to start somewhere. So why don’t we start from ourselves.
